Trip to Holy Trinity Church

5th class were fortunate enough to take a tour of Holy Trinity Church. The students each write a short recount of the walk. 

On Wednesday 13^th October we went to Holy Trinity Church with Mrs Hanrahan and she told us about the Normans, the won wall and the church and about how William de Broase brought over people from Wales to live here. She also told us that part of the church wall fell down and that part of the roof fell down but the roof was rebuilt later on but the wall wasn’t. We also walked along the town wall and went into the church and we looked at a tomb. We looked at paper mache statues that the secondary school made. Lastly we went upstairs and looked at a 3-d model of Fethard back hundreds of years ago that the secondary school also made and it was really cool. I really enjoyed out trip.

On Wednesday 3th October Mr Hanrahan brought us on a trip to Holy Trinity Church brought is on a trip to Holy Trinity Church as we were learning about Cromwell, the Normans, Holy Trinity Church and the history of Fethard. Mrs Hanrahan taught us the Oliver Cromwell came in 1650 and he did not plunder Fethard.

Mrs Hanrahan showed us a model of the town that the secondary school made. William de Broase was the person who built most of Fethard. The first charter gave annual rents and permission to build the town wall. When lord Inchiquin went through Cashel there was a blood bath and Fethard surrendered.

On Wednesday the 13/10/21 Mrs Hanrahan and 5^th Class went down to Holy Trinity Church. While we waited for Mrs. Hanrahan  to get there we went up the staircase that lead up the back of the town walls with an amazing view of the Clashawley river. When she came we talked about the history of Fethard, how the Normans came all the castles, the Burgers, Anglo-Normans and William be Broase. Then we took a walk to the other side to the church  where there we gravestones on the floor. Then she told us all about this amazing church, we even got to go into a tomb.

After that we got to see these amazing models of John the Baptist and Jesus. We went upstairs and saw this amazing model of Fethard done in 2012 and so well kept. I would like to thank Mrs. Hanrahan for taking us on this walk!

On Wednesday the 13^th of October we went on a historical walk. First we went and met Mrs. Hanrahan. Then we went up on the town walls to have a look. Soon after that Mrs. Hanrahan told us facts about the Normans and the town walls. We learned about the Everards, Cromwell and the Augustinians. Shortly after that we went into Holy Trinity Church.

First we went and looked at the statues of Fethard who were Christ of Calvary, God the Father and John the Baptist. Then we went upstairs and looked at the Medieval map of Fethard. This trip was very fun and interesting.
