Information for 5th Confirmation

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please find attached important information regarding Confirmation for 5^th Class pupils. Your child may wear their own clothes. Please ensure you are seated in the church by 10.20. Due to health and safety guidelines it is important to adhere to the entrance and seating plan attached below. Also all adults are required to wear a face mask during the ceremony. It will be a short ceremony just with the sacrament and the prayers. The name badges will be provided by the school as will the simple booklet for the ceremony. You will be able to collect your badge on Friday in school. (Also each candidate will receive the actual confirmation booklet as a memory of the day)

On the day children and sponsors will be assigned a seat etc. Each name will be placed on the pew. The confirmation candidate will sit on the outside of the pew and beside them will be the sponsor. The parents will sit next to the sponsors.

For the ceremony of confirmation there will be floor markings on the altar so that we can have safe social distancing.

It is important that the children receiving confirmation familiarise themselves with the responses. The response for the renewal of the baptismal promises is I Do

The response for the confirmation is Amen.  (The Priest anoints you by using oil of Chrism consecrated oil) to make the Sign of the Cross on your forehead while saying your Confirmation name and “Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.” You respond, “Amen.” The Priest then says, “Peace be with you.)”
