Clay Giant's Causeway

1st May 2017

We have been learning all about the Giant's Causeway in second class. The Giant's Causeway is a world heritage site that formed millions of years ago when a volcano erupted. It formed really unusual, hexagonal shaped columns. These columns are made from basalt rock. The Giant's Causeway can be found in county Antrim, which is in Northern Ireland. In Northern Ireland the currency used is the pound sterling.

Long ago, people thought that a giant named Fionn Mac Cumhaill made the causeway so that he could cross over to Scotland without touching the sea. Apparently giant's didn't like getting their feet wet.

We made our own causeway out of clay and some of us made giants. These are some pictures of our fabulous work under construction.
